Long Beach is a city famous for making stars, so it makes perfect sense that rapper TayF3rd was born there.
The 27 year old grew up in a household that heralded music, with his mom making sure to provide a soundtrack to their lives. It made a lasting impression on Tay, who recognized its power early on and grew an appreciation for the art form.
Coming up in Long Beach meant that he had a firsthand look at rap’s potential for success in Snoop Dogg. Tay was soon crafting his own Long Beach rap story. He hit the streets and party scene hard and realized he saw it all through a special lens, beginning to find his early inspirations as a rapper.
His rap alter ego (pronounced Tay F Third) is a combo of his name, a crew he came up with (Filthy) and the 3 is a nod to his neighborhood.
A random diss song aimed his way in high school lit the spark of his career, with Tay immediately using his gifts to create a scathing response. That experience opened his eyes to his love for rap and he hasn’t looked back since.
He represents a new wave from the famous beach city, with a sound that mixes its rich history with a modern sound. He got to work right away and dropped project after project, including his popular SandBox mixtape series.
